Five basic measures for secure IT
Much damage can be prevented without a big budget.
1. Turn on two-step verification
Start with email and everything that keeps your business running. A stolen password is then no longer enough to get in.
2. Use a password manager
Unique passwords per service prevent one leak from giving access to everything.
3. Install updates
Updates close known security holes. Turn on automatic updates for computers, phones and websites.
4. Test your backups
A backup is only worth something if you can restore it. Also keep one separate from your network, out of reach of ransomware.
5. Train your team on phishing
A fake invoice or fake login page often starts with a single click. Agree how staff report suspicious messages, and always check changed account numbers by phone.
